Ann started her professional career in the performing arts many years ago studying with the Verne Fowler School of Dance, the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC and attending Butler University as a Dance major where she studied all forms of dance and Physiology and Anatomy. She then moved back to NYC and went on to perform as a Professional Dancer/Singer and as a Former Radio City Rockette. She lived in places such as Athens, Greece, Cairo, Egypt, Japan, Monte Carlo, Paris and Germany to name a few. She was lucky enough to follow her dreams and passion and see the world while doing it.
Her whole life changed when she injured her hip and had to end her dance career. She ended up having a hip replacement and while recovering from the surgery decided to try hot yoga. Her yoga practice and her hip became stronger every day.She decided to get trained in Hot Yoga and run her own studio where she could introduce both hot yoga, vinyasa, ballet, and children's yoga. Ann had both hips replaced and practices hot yoga every day. She has been teaching dance and yoga for over 20 years.Ann's extensive dance background gave her such great discipline and focus. She continues to inspire all her students to reach new levels everyday in their Yoga practice here at Colts Neck Yoga. She holds hot yoga teacher trainings each year for devoted yoga students at her studio to become Hot Yoga teachers under the Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification program with the help of her sister, Kathleen Yocum- a licensed acupuncturist in NYC for over 20 years.
Mission Statement- I hope to introduce my hot yoga series to as many people as possible and I hope that they feel the healing aspects of yoga in mind, body, and spirit.
